Measles is a highly infectious viral illness. Measles starts with common cold-like symptoms that develop most 10 days subsequently you get infected. Y'all will then get a measles rash a few days later on.

Many people with measles develop pocket-sized greyish-white spots in their mouths. These appear before the rash.

Not everyone with measles has these spots. If you have them with other symptoms or a rash, it'due south highly likely you have measles.

Rare complications

Measles can also pb to:

  • middle and nervous system bug
  • a fatal encephalon complication called subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). This can occur several years after measles. This is very rare.

Pregnancy complications

  • miscarriage or stillbirth
